"Baltimore Oriole"	AUDUBON PRINTS FROM THE HUMBOLDT GROUP CORPORATE COLLECTION December 4 - January 29, 2006 William Thonson Gallery Explore a selection of prints by premier wildlife artist John James Audubon. On loan from the Humboldt Group Corporate Collection, this exhibition highlights the first edition copper engravings that are hand-tinted watercolors (c.1830), second edition stone lithographs (c.1860) and third edition stone lithograph octavo prints. 	MONART DRAWING SCHOOL January 18 –February 25 Youth Gallery The Monart Drawing School’s fifth annual art exhibition presents inspirational art by young artists ranging in ages five to fourteen years old. A celebration of many different cultures and imagination is reflected in their work. Subject matter ranges from Japanese temples, Aboriginal Kangaroos, Chinese Roosters to King Arthur and characters of Where the Wild Things Are. A variety of media from markers, colored and graphite pencils, watercolors, and oil and chalk pastels is represented in the display of drawings. Press Release

	REDWOOD ART ASSOCIATION SPRING EXHIBIT April 13 – May 21, Tom Knight and Dr. Richard & Elizabeth Anderson Galleries Juried exhibition from Humboldt County’s oldest artist’s association. Juror: Born in 1943, David Jenks grew up and studied in Massachusetts, graduating from Williams College with an Art History degree in 1965. He also attended the Yale Summer School of Music and Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. David Jenks's work has been featured in galleries across the country and in Japan. Articles about him have appeared in SOUTHWEST ART, AMERICAN ARTIST and ART OF THE WEST. 	SYMPATHETIC RESONANCES BY BOB BRALOVE May 25 - July 8 An installation using a new system of virtual mapping, Dose Hermanos is attaching sounds and images to the musical notes of their keyboards in real time. This year’s Ruby Galawill include entertainment and features gourmet presentations by local Celebrity Chefs paired with local wines and an exciting auction of fine art and special packages. As part of the festivities, we will honor William and Elizabeth Pierson as the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to the Arts Award.

PAINTINGS BY FLOYD BETTIGA
November – December

The Humboldt Arts Council is pleased to present Paintings by Floyd Bettiga, in the gallery aptly named after him at the Morris Graves Museum of Art. An HAC Emeritus Board Member and a professional artist, Floyd Bettiga holds MA and BA degrees in Art
from Humboldt State University. He is a retired Professor of Art from College of the Redwoods. Floyd has exhibited his work throughout the western region in both solo and group shows. Floyd’s honors include a 1989 Outstanding Alumni Award from HSU, 1976 Who’s Who in American Art, and 1971 and 1991 awards from HAC for significant longterm contributions to fostering the arts in Humboldt County. In addition, Floyd has traveled widely. His stunning floral paintings capture the beauty and light of a warm spring day. A wonderful treat for the dreary Humboldt winters, these paintings bring freshness and new growth to life.

"Graffiti Girl "

ORR MARSHALL RETROSPECTIVE:
A Bridge to Japan
December 10 - February 11, 2007

After studying with Josef Albers at Yale, then teaching in the Bay Area, Orr Marshall received a Japanese government scholarship to study at the National University of Fine Arts in Tokyo and lived in Japan for five years. His art in various media often draws upon traditional and modern aspects of Japanese culture to reinterpret them from a personal viewpoint. The painting "Graffiti Girl," his imaginary take on the current Japanese urban scene, was included in an exhibition at the reopened M.H. de Young Museum in San Francisco in 2005, and will be among the wide range of works selected from his Japan days up to the present.

The annual member show is a juried exhibition designed to highlight the fabulous art being produced by our artist members. As always, this exhibit is eclectic, surprising and enjoyable. M. Wayne Knight has been an artist and graphic designer since the early 1970’s and is currently an assistant professor in the Art Department at Humboldt State University. Mr. Knight’s skills range from traditional easel painting to computer generated art and has exhibited nationally as well as served clients and corporations at the national level. His work has included oil portraiture, illustration, video, and a full range of graphic design products including print design, web construction and corporate identity. He is a highly skilled traditional artist who has embraced the computer as a natural extension of artist’s tools. Currently he is working on “Characters” that are drawn freehand with a stylus and pad directly into the computer. He has recently turned his attention to teaching full time and divides his time between a home in the hills above Ukiah and a home in Mckinleyville.
