Think of all the places you yearn to visit to capture some solace, peace of mind, rest, rejuvenation. This selection is about those sorts of places. These images, taken over the past year along the Northern California and Southern Oregon Coasts will, I hope, remind you of just those places that you recall from the past. Maybe you’ll see these images and resolve to take a new journey of rediscovery.
I have been enjoying our lovely landscape for over 30 years and decided to begin learning photography to try to record the beauty. I try to exhibit and share my work as often as I can. My photograph of an old building at the Humboldt Bay Wildlife Refuge was accepted in the juried process at the Humboldt County Fair of 2011. My photograph, entitled Ma'le'l North, won a cash award in the Redwood Art Association 2012 New Year Exhibit. Another photograph, Through The Fog, was accepted in the Redwood Art Association 2012 Spring Juried Exhibit and displayed in the Morris Graves Museum. The Marsh won the Best Photo Landscape award at the RAA 2013 Spring Exhibit. Cold Stream was accepted in the 2014 North West Eye exhibit at the Morris Graves Museum. Grace and Prairie were accepted in the Humboldt County jury process for the 2014 County Fair. I was invited to show my work with four other women photographers at Swanlund's F Street Foto Gallery in July and August 2014. Ma’le’l North 2 won a cash award in the Redwood Art Association 2015 New Year Exhibit. Damnation Creek was accepted in the Humboldt County jury process for the 2016 County Fair. I have done photographic work for Redwood National and State Parks, the Bureau of Land Management, the Sierra Club, and Siskiyou Field Institute.
I am a member of the Humboldt Arts Council, Redwood Art Association, Redwood Camera Club, Fortuna Art Council and Eureka Photoshop Users Group.
