SoniX At The Graves
SoniX is an unusual instrumental group made up of nine talented local musicians playing an eclectic array of instruments including but not limited to, cello, steel drum, Eurorack synthesizers, piano, melodica, tablas, accordion, upright and electric bass, English horn, bass clarinet, flute, soprano sax and varied percussion. The musical material will be comprised of original compositions and arrangements created by Brian Post and Ryan Ehresman. These pieces are mostly written for an electronic and acoustic blend of instruments, creating a unique interplay of sounds. Two of the works will incorporate nature recordings of the Amazon jungle at dawn, Prairie Creek and Brown Creek in the local Redwoods and Pacific Tree Frogs recorded locally. All of the local sounds were recorded by Brian Post to be used in this and other performances.
Besides a unique blend of sounds and approaches to the music, at times the group will incorporate the wonderful acoustics of the museum itself by playing in the different galleries and spaces available.
