Join the Humboldt Arts Council in the Morris Graves Museum of Art for Wine & Jazz, our monthly 3rd Sunday musical event. This month our musical guest will be All Wheel Drive, a five-piece string band featuring Cat Koshkin and Patrick Cleary, who have been active in the local music scene for over 25 years.
Koshkin is known for her vocal and percussion skills and has performed with several bands and projects over the years, and many will know Cleary as the longtime organizer of the Humboldt Folklife Festival. Cleary is also celebrating the recent release of his new album, “Finally”. Other band members include Jim Adams (vocals and guitar), Dan Berman (bass), and Stefan Vaughn (violin).
When asked about their musical genre, Cleary states that “All Wheel Drive plays a broad palette of music from Roma jazz to Great American Songbook to western swing to blues to pop. As a string band, we are able to blend those diverse sounds together into a coherent sound. With the instrumentation of violin, mandolin, guitar and bass, the musical texture lends itself to Django Reinhard tunes as well as western swing and other jazz tunes. There are few jazz bands with no piano or horns”.
This is sure to be an afternoon of unique jazz like no other. So join us for fine wine and fun music, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!
