Art Talk Sunday: Afternoon Reading from Black Silk and Other Poems: Creative Work of Ruth Mountaingrove
Sunday, June 8th at 2 p.m.
Join the Humboldt Arts Council at the Morris Graves Museum of Art for Art Talk Sunday, with an afternoon reading from Black Silk and Other Poems: Creative Work of Ruth Mountaingrove. The reading will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th in the MGMA Rotunda. Activist, lesbian feminist, HSU student, fine artist, photographer and writer Ruth Mountaingrove passed away in 2016 in Arcata, at the age of 93. This collection of poetry and images was produced by publisher Kate Hitt and Many Names Press, and edited by Vinnie Peloso and Sue Hilton of The L-Word newsletter as a tribute to their friend Ruth: an outstanding maverick working for women's rights, equality and freedom in all things through art, music, shows, theatre, workshops and magazines, and, naturally, writing poetry all her long life.
