Sheri Culver: Multimedia Artist

For me, creating art is a way of telling stories.
I mainly use recycled materials, mainly wood which I saw into different forms-sometimes raw, sometimes painted.
I also incorporate various found objects to fill in a particular scene I am working on.
I enjoy sculpture as a form of expression as I never see things in my minds eye as a flat surface but rather I see things as a kind of hologram or 3D image.
Really I want my pieces to be interactive and I would love for the viewer to get lost in the story or environment that I have created.
I have been through many cycles and stages of experimentation with my work through the years, including metalsmithing and jewelry making, ceramic arts, painting, and mixed media sculpture.
My education has been receiving a Fine Arts Degree from WWU and also many extended education courses where I further developed my skills in both metals and ceramics.
I am deeply inspired by many contemporary and Modern Artists such as Picasso, Miro, and Salvador Dali to name a few.
It seems everywhere I look I find endless inspiration in life and nature also.
