Special Events at the MGMA

Prepare to be transported to the heart of Latin America and the Baroque era with a captivating classical guitar performance by Luciano Marazzo. "Sacred Pampas & Preludes" takes place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, located at 636 F Street, Eureka, CA 95501. This event promises an unforgettable afternoon of evocative music.

Marazzo, a classical guitarist from Argentina, will guide the audience through a program that explores the rich musical traditions of his homeland and the genius of Baroque composers. The performance will feature works that capture the spirit of Latin American landscapes and the intricate beauty of Baroque masterpieces.

"As a Classical Guitarist from Argentina, I feel this concert very close to my heart since most of the pieces are tied to my memories," says Marazzo. "For the final section, the pieces showcase the intricate works of the master of Baroque, J.S. Bach, which has been a source of tremendous inspiration."

Attendees can expect a unique and personal interpretation of these rare works. Marazzo is known for his distinctive approach, taking liberties with the music to create a fresh and engaging experience. "I've been known for breaking norms with my interpretation of music," Marazzo explains. "I take my liberties to interpret the music... I would not like to sound like J.S. Bach or Jose Luis Merlin at all... I particularly enjoy when my audience realizes who the composer is but feels like they have never heard the piece before since some changes have been made."

This event is especially relevant to the Humboldt County community, where classical guitar performances are a rare treat. "Classical Guitar is rare in Humboldt," notes Marazzo. This concert offers a unique opportunity for local music lovers to experience the beauty and artistry of this instrument.
