Nickelodeon Our World: Worldwide Day of Play

Saturday September 28th, noon-5pm at the Morris Graves Museum of Art

The Morris Graves Museum of Art will participate in Our World: Worldwide Day of Play by hosting a MGMA Scavenger Hunt on September 28 focused on play. The MGMA Scavenger Hunt will give families clues that encourage exploration of the MGMA, it’s seven galleries and courtyard sculpture garden, with a focus on engaging children in the visual arts and the exhibitions at the museum. Children and families are invited to participate in this event by picking up a scavenger hunt map at the museum front desk.

“Play is a powerful experience that enriches people’s lives in museums, schools, homes, and beyond,” states Arthur G. Affleck, III, executive director of the Association of Children’s Museums. “ACM is pleased to partner with Nickelodeon on amplifying the importance of play on wellbeing and healthy brain development, and to make learning more effective and joyful for everyone. As children’s museums, we believe in the power of play and we strive to nurture more play and playful learning everywhere we go.”

“The Humboldt Arts Council is thrilled to collaborate with the Association of Children’s Museums and Nickelodeon to participate in the Worldwide Day of Play at the MGMA. We want everyone in the community to feel as they are part of the MGMA family, and by bringing children and families together in a museum setting, we are encouraging imagination, curiosity and creativity.  Children who are introduced to museums at a young age tend to be life-long museum-goers, and our hope is that they always feel welcome at the MGMA.” says Jemima Harr, HAC Executive Director-Curator.

Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s Our World global initiative to inspire kids and provide them with tools to activate their individual and collective agency.  As part of a network of than 300 ACM member children’s museums who reach millions of families in North America, and the more than 1,000 museums participating in Museums for All, a national access initiative that ACM manages, the Morris Graves Museum of Art is a vital collaborator in the Our World: Worldwide Day of Play.
